This application has been conceived for the LIP (Laboratoire Interuniversitaire de Psychologie).
Emolyse app permits to virtualize an experience situation. In this virtual environment the participant will traduce a body reaction about choosen objects/pictures
It was a constraint to develop this project in a 3D environment. We chose the web technology WebGL through the ThreeJS Library to build this environment
The environment itself is a simple 2D picture with perspective. Only avatars are really implemented in 3D (Thanks to the makehuman free software
The LIP wanted this Emolyse Project accessible to everybody. We made it open-source an we works on a settable language module. By default, english and french are enable but you can completely set an all new language
As experimenters should use Emolyse app it has to be a maximum settable. So we made a big work on the administrator (experimenter) part with the aim to add a maximum of settings. We tried to keep it easy-to-use thanks to auto-save functions and visual feedback.
It was not a constraint but we decided through the WebGL technology to make the Emolyse App portable. However, WebGL is a quite new technology so only recent devices (> 2009) can support it.
Even if the using experience is much better on touch device we keep in mind the portability and made available manipulation with mouse click. Emolyse app hasn't be tested on mobile cause its utilisation on that kind of device seems us inappropriate according to its main functionalities.
